There’s no doubt Carrie’s leadership skills are paving the industry forward. Listen to the full interview below.
Stay grounded in kindness.
Highlight: “Whatever anybody asks of you, do that and do more. I think that's a lost art. When I see young people coming in, I ask them for something, and they give it to me and say, ‘I also thought about this and did that.’ It's these simple basics that I think we can all be better at. All grounded in kindness.” - Carrie Drinkwater
Take responsibility.
Highlight: “If anyone on your team ever screws up, and that will happen, you take responsibility. I will go to the client, and I will say, ‘That's my mistake. It's my team.’ Own your team's mistakes from day one, and you will build so much trust.” - Carrie Drinkwater
Give the credit to others.
Highlight: “A great leader surrounds themselves with an amazing team. And they give them the credit. Give them all the credit, give them the fame, give them the platforms, but make sure you have the right people.” - Carrie Drinkwater
Work with intention.
Highlight: “What I've learned is connections, time, people, and intention has been the best way to manage. If you can do what you're doing in the moment really well, it helps with the next thing. If you can focus on what you're doing in the moment and give it your energy, attention, and curiosity, that is the best way to help elevate in anything that you do in an inside, outside, personal, and professional way.” - Carrie Drinkwater
Like Carrie said, make others shine. When you create space for others to succeed and feel good about the work they do, it results in a happier, more trustworthy space for everyone. For more inspirational content, check out the Pass the Mic page.
