Lynn joined Jocelyn Hudak, Director, Content and Digital Marketing and Sophie Anderson, Associate Director, Podcast Sales Marketing for a Pass the Mic interview at Advertising Week New York. Get ready to get some wisdom, and give her interview a listen.
Get involved and give back, those are the pay-it-forward attitudes that make Lynn such a successful, powerful leader. Here are some highlights to inspire you.
Make the connections you want.
Highlight: “I remember one time, I was in a situation where I wanted to switch jobs, and I was a single mother at the time. And so, I made a promise to myself that I'd connect with seven people a day. And I'm an introvert, and I did it. And I can't tell you how generous people were, but I had to make a goal for myself: Seven people who you think can help you make the connections you want.” - Lynn Branigan
Say yes.
Highlight: “We hosted an event called, Best of the Badass Bosses, which is something we created about six years ago. And so, I get to interview a lot of C-suite leaders, which is a lot of fun for me. And one of the things I notice is they say yes, and they say yes to a lot of things, things they're passionate about, but they join. They get involved, and they bring other people along the way. And I think that I will oftentimes say to my staff, ‘Make sure when you're networking with other people that you give as much as you get.’” - Lynn Branigan
Get involved.
Highlight: “Get involved in your industry, sign up for things, volunteer, and you'll learn the best part of what it is to be a woman in our industry. And you'll learn from allies who are men, as well, as to what they see in you. Because sometimes you don't see your own superpowers, and it's others who can bring that out in you. And for women, we need that.” - Lynn Branigan
Listen and be curious.
Highlight: “I learned that the art of listening, the art of being curious are really, really important. Also, not having to feel you have all the answers because we don't, and we're never going to. But if you make people feel like you do, they don't feel empowered to help you rise.” - Lynn Branigan
We’re glad we had the chance to listen to Lynn and learn from her wisdom. Curious about what other powerful female leaders have to say? Check out more Pass the Mic content.
