Feb 27, 2024Meet Randi Stipes, CMO at The Weather Company, where she focuses on evolving one of the world’s most iconic and trusted brands. She leads a team that drives marketing and communications. Randi is passionate about marketing transformation, taking an agile date-driven approach to delivering measurable results. Recently, she and her family moved to a tiny town in Florida. And though she travels a lot for work, she gets plenty of time to soak in the sunshine.
Randi joined Jocelyn Hudak, Senior Director, Content and Digital Marketing for an interview at our Pass the Mic lounge at CES in Las Vegas, created in partnership with The Female Quotient. Get ready to take on new challenges, and give the full interview a listen.
Say yes.
Highlight: “Find your allies, and just say yes. Don't get so boxed into what you think you want to do that it closes you off to the art of the possibility.” – Randi Stipes
Take the assignment.
Highlight: “I was able to make a pivot because there was someone who gave me an assignment… I share that example because it set the course trajectory for my career, which has since then always been in the digital space. But I really attribute that not because I had this master plan, or I was smart enough to get around and have the visibility and the insights into the next big trend, but because someone believed in me, probably more than I believed in myself at the time.” – Randi Stipes
Socialize your success.
Highlight: “We have to be on that soapbox and our own evangelists for our work and our team's work. And then you find your champions. You find your allies who are going to hopefully do that for you when you're not in the room. But I don't think that's boastful. I think that's about communicating. So put in the work, put in the hustle, but then you better make sure that you're socializing that.” – Randi Stipes
Learn from failure.
Highlight: “A failure is totally acceptable as long as you own it, and you learn from it—hopefully you're failing fast. But one of the things that helps mitigate that (that women tend to shy away from)... is to ask the questions in the room… I try to model for my team. I'm the first person to raise my hand.” – Randi Stipes
We have a question. Why aren’t there more leaders like Randi who is pushing her teams to find and embrace new challenges. For more from fantastic female leaders, check out the Pass the Mic page.
