Celebrating Black Music Month with Coco Jones (and Sponsors)

Aug 20, 2024

Black musicians have pushed the music industry to new heights for decades. From the smooth sounds of jazz and R&B, to the upbeat hits of hip-hop and rap, (and so much more), Black artists have created new trends and set the standard for musicians across the globe. This year, we celebrated the instrumental role Black musicians play in society and honored Black Music Month in a big way.

SiriusXM and Pandora hosted an unforgettable concert at the Academy LA with GRAMMY Award winner and R&B superstar, Coco Jones. But this event is more than just a concert, we create unforgettable, multi-sensory experiences for fans and brands alike to enjoy, all rooted in celebration of community, good music, and good vibes.

Impact the Community

As a part of our larger Black Music Month celebration before the concert, we partnered with Cricket to host “Rhythm in Action." This custom event focused on giving back to the LA community and inspiring the young students from the Boys & Girls Club of Metro LA.

Together with Cricket, we’re continuing to advocate for the growth and inspiration in the youth of LA. Students from the club visited our Hollywood Studio for a day packed with knowledge sharing, inspiring conversations, music industry networking, and even a live performance from special guest, Kalan Fr, Fr. The kids gathered to listen to an exclusive panel conversation and Q&A session with music executives from SiriusXM, Def Jam, Pandora, and SoundCloud, as well as GRAMMY Award winning producer, Ray Romulus.

Sponsors Hit the High Notes

A free concert to see Coco Jones is pretty cool (okay really cool), but it's our sponsors what make our Pandora events accessible to her fans. Creating buzzworthy moments through custom onsite activations, our sponsors provide fans with incredible experiences, event keepsakes, and memories to last a lifetime.

In addition to some pre-show trivia, complimentary artist t-shirts, free churros, and a high-energy DJ set, Glad set up an interactive photo booth to create long-lasting memories during and beyond the event. Delta provided our guests access to the Delta Sky Lounge—an exclusive VIP viewing area. When brands are a part of big moments like these, it pays off—big time. Over nine in 10 fans say they saved something they received from one of our sponsors, and nearly nine in 10 fans plan to purchase a product from one of our brand sponsors.

Coco Jones, 2024 GRAMMY Award winner, five time nominee, and changemaker for young Black women, stepped out on the stage with the confidence of the star she is, performing hit songs like "ICU" and her new single "Here We Go." With her powerful vocals, dynamic choreography, and backup dancers, it’s no secret Coco is the next R&B superstar.

After the show, Got2b sent attendees home safely with complimentary rideshare app discount codes for $10 off their ride.

Let Your Brand Shine

To boost brands even further, our sponsors were featured throughout key communications with fans. This included the event's official press release, the RSVP page, and thank you email, generating heightened brand awareness, affinity, and association with Black Music Month celebrations. And, like any popular event, social media was popping. With over 87% of fans posting on social media, the event generated over 470K social and press impressions across Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook, meaning brands got exposure IRL and into the virtual world.

Pandora live events are all about our fans, but they’re even more rewarding for brands. From elevated awareness to long lasting brand recall, fans are tuned in and ready to hear from sponsors. In fact, attendees had a 40% more positive opinion of our event sponsors after attending the show, and 73% of them looked for more product information after seeing the sponsor’s onsite activations.
