Tune in to Luana’s full interview below, then check out some highlights from the conversation.
Take the first step.
Highlight: “I think resilience, flexibility, adaptability are great traits that you build. But in the end, I think it's all about courage. It's taking that first step and saying, 'I'm going to do it because I know I can do it. I don't know how, but I will do it.'” - Luana Bumachar
Keep learning.
Highlight: “Always learn. If you are not learning, that's one of the worst feelings ever. Find a place that, even if it's not the right industry yet, you have an opportunity to learn. I moved because there was always this opportunity that I would learn something new, something I didn't know. Keep learning.” - Luana Bumachar
Be genuine to yourself.
Highlight: “Just be genuine to yourself. I think a lot of times, and being Latine and being Brazilian, I tried to fit in for so long. And I think the moment I decided to not fit in anymore and be genuine, it's when I started to learn what I liked and what I could be good at, what my purpose is.” - Luana Bumachar
Give people context.
Highlight: “One of the key learnings of leading transformation is to give the team and people context. They might not agree. We make hard decisions during transformation, and they might not agree with those decisions. But if you spend time giving people context, it makes a huge difference that, while they may still not agree, they will understand. - Luana Bumachar
Put things into perspective.
Highlight: “Transformations are great when they work, they are really painful when they don't. There was a really hard time when the company was going through a difficult period... I found strength, I would say, on family, but also on professional friends to reassure me, to put things into perspective. I think sometimes you are so deep into something that you can't see beyond that. And then I started slowly distancing myself, and I made one of the hardest decisions I've made in my career, which was to resign without having my next job. And it was hard. I felt like a failure. I felt I couldn't do it. But when I did, I had a lot of time to rest and reflect. And then you put things back into perspective. And then I'm back to my old self. And then let's move to the next, and let's build again, and let’s transform again. And here we are.” - Luana Bumachar
Don’t try to fit in.
Highlight: “Don't try to fit in. You can't. Just be genuine. I tried so hard for a long time to fit in. And I think I'm the most successful now, and I can do what I do just because I don't care about that anymore.” - Luana Bumachar
